Marlon, an experienced trader from Brisbane, Australia, recently shared his journey and strategies with FundedNext, shedding light on the importance of discipline and simplicity in achieving trading success.
Having started trading in 2019, Marlon first ventured into penny stocks before shifting to Forex and synthetic indices. Despite facing significant losses early in his career, including a $115,000 loss in one week while trading gold, he persevered and refined his approach over several years. “It took me about five or six months to understand that trading is not a get-rich-quick scheme; it’s a business,” Marlon reflected.
Marlon’s trading style has evolved from using complex indicators to adopting a more streamlined approach. “Now, I focus on supply and demand and keep my charts clean with just a 50 EMA,” he said. His strategy centers around simplicity—trading one session with one entry and one exit. “I only take one trade per day and am strict about my dollar risk-to-reward ratio,” he added.
His disciplined approach has been instrumental in passing the challenges at FundedNext. Marlon emphasized how working with a prop firm has helped him become more disciplined, as their rules encourage a structured, methodical approach to trading.
Marlon’s key advice for aspiring traders is to “keep it simple” and avoid overcomplicating things with unnecessary indicators. “If you have a mentor, stick with them. Don’t jump from one person to another. Stay focused and disciplined, and don’t trade the news if you’re not experienced enough.”
His trading strategy has allowed him to achieve consistent profits, making him a standout success at FundedNext. Currently, Marlon is in the evaluation phase with a goal of passing the challenge in one trade. He is confident that with the right mindset, any trader can succeed.
